There are many different kind of hosting but the most common that you see offered on the internet are these three basic categories: web hosting. reseller hosting and VPS hostingThere might be some variations of the above three types but for now I will just stick with these three.
- Web hosting is for just hosting a site and sometime you can also get some form of SSH (standard or console) or/and some form of cPanel (custom made or commercial cPanel)
- Reseller hosting is for your to resell web hosting to your client and usually it does not come with standard SSH but you might get web console SSH
- VPS hosting is for people that like to have total control of their hosting where you will have “root” access and you can install whatever you want on your server for whatever purpose you want even for gaming.
